Sharmina Brooks is a proud first-generation Jamaican American, born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As one of five siblings, she learned early the values of perseverance, resilience, and community—values that have guided her throughout her life and career.

Sharmina made the courageous decision to enlist in the United States Navy, embarking on a journey of service, discipline, and leadership. Over the course of her nine-year military career, she served honorably and with distinction in various roles that demanded adaptability, critical thinking, and a deep commitment to teamwork. Her dedication and performance earned her the respect of her peers and superiors alike. Following her honorable service, she was medically retired, closing one chapter and opening another with renewed purpose.

As a devoted mother of five, Sharmina balances the responsibilities of parenthood with her pursuit of academic and professional excellence. Currently, she is earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management and is proud to be featured in the member spotlight of the Association of Minority Healthcare Professionals (AMHP), Inc. She joined this organization to connect with a like-minded community of professionals who share her commitment to representation, mentorship, and equity. Drawn to the mission of empowering minority leaders, she sees AMHP as a platform to grow professionally and give back. Through the Association, she is actively expanding her network, gaining industry insights, and aligning her goals with a broader movement for systemic change.

With a servant-leader mindset and an unwavering sense of purpose, Sharmina Brooks is building a future defined by impact, integrity, and innovation.
